Third chargesheet filed against Prajwal Revanna in sexual assault case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Karnataka’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) filed another chargesheet against former Janata Dal Secular (JDS) MP Prajwal Revanna on Friday in the sexual assault and harassment case against him.
The chargesheet, spanning 1,691 pages, includes statements from 120 witnesses and was submitted to a court on Friday, after a complaint filed by a Zila Panchayat member.
As per the latest chargesheet, filed by Investigating Officer Inspector Shobha, the survivor’s saree has also been identified as a key evidence in the case.
With this, the SIT has filed chargesheets in three of the four cases of sexual assault and harassment against a 33-year-old former MP.
Earlier, the SIT had filed a chargesheet of 2,144 pages in the sexual assault and harassment case against Revanna and his father, HD Revanna on August 24. In the chargesheet, Revanna was accused of sexually assaulting a domestic helper of the family.
The sexual assault cases against Prajwal Revanna, who was the BJP candidate for Lok Sabha polls from Hassan, came to the forefront after a pen drive containing explicit videos, filmed by Revanna was reportedly circulated ahead of the elections. However, Revanna claimed that the “obscene videos” involving him were morphed, and had filed a complaint in this regard.
Three cases of sexual assault and one of sexual harassment have been registered against Revanna, who has been lodged in jail since his arrest on May 31.
